What are the requirements for my pet to stay at Woodland Vet: Pet Hotel?
When a reservation is made, paperwork will be provided to you in digital or paper form. You have the option to make your contract valid for various lengths of time; however, we recommend signing a lifetime contract, as this ensures you won’t have to repeatedly fill out and sign the paperwork. Details regarding your pet’s care during their stay can be altered at any time, and the Pet Hotel Coordinator will always confirm this information with you when making a reservation. Furthermore, if at any time you wish to update your contract, feel free to let your Client Care Representative know.
Required Vaccines for Dogs: Rabies, DHPP (Distemper, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza, Hepatitis), Bordetella, and Canine Influenza
Required Vaccines for Cats: Rabies and FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia)
We recommend all pets be vaccinated at least two weeks prior to their Pet Hotel stay to ensure full immunity and protection from communicable diseases, although this is not a requirement.
Are there any fees added on for longer stays?
There are no added fees for extra-long stays! However, if your pet will be our guest for 2 weeks or longer, a deposit is taken at check-in for half of your pet’s estimated stay.
Can I come and tour the Hotel?
Of course! At Woodland Vet: Pet Hotel, we want you to feel completely confident in your pet’s care. For safety reasons, your pet and children (12 and under) cannot join you on your tour of our facility. Tours are subject to staff availability.
Should I bring my pet’s food?
You are absolutely welcome to bring your pet’s food from home. However, we do also offer our own food at no additional cost. We provide Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Low Fat, both wet and dry food, for our Pet Hotel guests. This palatable diet is meant to help prevent digestive issues and is a generally well-tolerated diet that can be fed to your specifications. If interested, an ingredients list for any of our Gastrointestinal Low-Fat products can be provided upon request. You are welcome to utilize our diet or bring your own. Please note that for puppies and kittens, we strongly recommend bringing their own food, as their stomachs can be especially sensitive. If your pet has ongoing dietary medical concerns/sensitivities, we ask that you bring food from home as well.
If you are bringing food from home, and your pet requires medication/supplements, please do not package any of these items with your pet’s food. Our Pet Hotel Associates are not qualified to deliver medications to your pets. (Supplements are considered a form of medication.) If your pet requires any medications or supplements, please fill out your paperwork with the appropriate dosing information, and package these items separately from their food for check-in.
Can my pet receive vaccines, exams, nail trims, etc. during their stay?
Our medical team will happily provide the above services. Nail trims can be done for any pet willing to participate. Exams can be performed during any stay longer than one night. Vaccines can be updated during your pet’s exam or with our technician team if they have been seen by one of our veterinarians within the past year. State regulations prevent us from administering vaccines or prescribing medications to a pet who has not been seen for an exam by our veterinarians. These services can be requested either in your Pet Hotel Reservation form or at check-in. Please make sure to confirm your pet’s treatment details at check-in as we require signed consent and may need to ask you questions about these treatments.
You don’t have associates overnight?
While we do not have staff in the Pet Hotel overnight, we do have staff here at 5:30 in the morning and there is staff monitoring until they leave for the night at 8pm. Most pets are content to rest overnight in their beds, and greet us each morning with sleepy stretches and wagging tails! As soon as staff arrives in the morning, they check in on each guest; they also do this before leaving for the night. We take every precaution to make sure that all guests are ready for the night before we leave. We also have in-house surveillance cameras which can be reviewed if the need arises.
Can I bring my pet’s belongings from home?
You may, however, please consider that items from home could be soiled, damaged, or lost during your pet’s stay. We provide ample blankets, toys, and bowls. Our Pet Hotel Associates use our WVH slip leashes for walks. You may leave your pet’s collar and leash with us for pick up. Your pet may not tear, rip, or soil anything at home, but since the Pet Hotel environment is not their home, we cannot accept responsibility for these items being damaged or lost. We will not reimburse these items, so we kindly ask that you choose to leave personal items at home. If you plan to bring items, we ask that you do not bring anything of sentimental value.
Do you require alternate contacts in order for my pet to stay?
We do not require an alternate contact for all stays, though we highly recommend leaving a trusted contact. We do however leave that to your discretion. This contact would be in addition to those on your account and should be someone who you would trust to pick up or drop off in the case you are unable to do so yourself. This contact would also be considered next in line to call in an emergency where we have tried to contact the primary owners but cannot reach them.
The one occasion alternate contact information is required is if your trip involves going on a cruise or out of the country. For cruises, you may leave your travel details such as the cruise line you are travelling with, ship’s contact number, and your room number. If you would prefer not to leave your travel details, a trusted alternate contact is required. If you are travelling outside the country, we do require an alternate contact that is in the United States during the course of your trip. This contact does not need to be local.
Can my pet stay with you if they have ongoing medical concerns?
Our Pet Hotel does have select availability for pets who may need continuous medical care. These reservation requests do need to be approved by our medical team. This is to confirm we have the proper resources, staff, and space to provide your pet’s specialized care. Pets with ongoing health issues (i.e. diabetes, injured pets) are placed in the care of our Veterinary Technician team. Medications, feeding, and walks are done by our technicians. At our facility, these services are referred to as “Special Care.” Costs vary from a regular stay; for more information, please contact our Pet Hotel Coordinator line.
Can I bring hemp or CBD products to be given during their stay?
Although there have been changes to California law in regards to human use and consumption of Hemp/CBD products, veterinarians cannot administer, store, or recommend such products under federal law. Any CBD products included in your belongings will be removed; we will request you come to pick them up, or they will be discarded.
